The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge of 15- to 18-year-old students about biotechnology science. Biotechnology generally consists of a set of technologies that are derived from living or biological organisms of plants, animals, microorganisms, or specific compounds that are used to produce new products. The statistical population of this study includes high school students of boys and girls of education in the 9th district of Mashhad, from which 63 students were randomly selected. Data collection tools were developed by researcher-made questionnaires with indicators on the knowledge of biotechnology and its applications. The results of this study showed that students have a relative understanding of biotechnology but students have a higher understanding of biotechnology.According to the results, teaching the basic concepts of this science is necessary to obtain information and students' understanding of this science.
