Comparison of the Effectiveness of the Teaching Biology Using Creative Biological Handicrafts with the Method of Speaking on Academic achievement of Biology course

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the method of teaching biology using creative biological handicrafts with the method of speaking in Biology lesson. The research was conducted in 1397 by semi experimental method in two independent groups. The statistical population included all of the Fatemieh high school students in Quchan. 24 people were randomly selected as a sample. To teach the subject of the respiratory system, students were divided into two groups. One group was trained by the teacher and the other group was trained by the students themselves using creative biological handicrafts. Finally, to compare the amount of learning, the same written test was used for both groups. Scores were analyzed by independent t-test using SPSS software version 16. Alpha level was determined to be 0.05. The results showed, there was a significant difference in the mean scores of the subject in biology and the mean scores in the group that was trained in the method of instruments, increased significantly. The use of handicrafts seems to lead to a deeper understanding of biology in students.
